Pragmatic (Social) Language

Pragmatic language refers to social communication skills. Social language skills include the ability to think about others’ perspectives, use/understand non-verbal cues, and match your vocabulary and speech style to your communication partners. Children with pragmatic language challenges may have trouble solving social conflicts or knowing how to respond to peers that are upset. Pragmatic language skills are often challenging for children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
